Hello to anybody that remembers me, born 1963 in Rothesay but my parents left the island 1974, went to St Andrews with my bother Allan and sister Margaret Rose, lived Blane Terrace, my old man Jim worked in the Grapes and Stewarts Bakers, happy days playing football 15 a side on the praire .

Great to read about Rothesay. Our family farm at Waaia, Australia is named after this town and ancestors are meant to have owned the bakery there

just wondering if anyone left on the island that remembers my families.my mother was nessie leigh, one of the daughters of aggie leigh of deanhood place and my father was charlie malcolm, from the watergate.they owned the white heather fish & chips store during the war; they emigrated to canada and then nyc 1954-1956

My Fathers family was from Rothesay.My Aunt Isa still lives in town. I went back a few years ago plus spent some summers in the mid 60,s as a kid and had a blast.my dad met my mother in Rothesay then moved to Vancouver B.C.my family were related to the Whitefords and McAllisters.my dad was from a large family growing up in the 30's and 40's.They are all in their 80's now.must be the fresh air and water! Great website!

Our family is looking forward to our upcoming trip to Bute and especially Rothesay - the birth place of my Grandfather Hugh Allan. I hope to discover more about my Allan/McCallum roots. Recently I discovered through your website that Peter and Dan McCallum - my Great Uncles, worked Little Grenach Farm. I am thrilled with what I have discovered through scotlandspeople.gove.uk. This is going to be one very special vacation.
