You may remember my previous posting regarding the unkempt condition of
the cemetery.

Five weeks on, there is still no formal response from Joe McCabe at the
Council.

In response to my previous comments re Copper Man, I accept the new
Minister's assertion that it hasn't been moved in the last four years
but it most certainly has been moved from its original site.

It was a family tradition when visiting the cemetery for the adults to
lay a penny on the rim of the tomb as a "gift" from the Copper Man to us
children, and you could walk around all four sides of the monument.  The
tomb also had an inscription that related the history of the Copper Man
and how and where he made his fortune.

If you think about it Catherine, you were a wee girl then and I had a look at the Copper Man
yesterday and you could have got round the back of the Man easily when you were a child.

There seems no reason to move it and certainly no sign of it being disturbed at any time.

Jean.

I went into Google and typed copper man Isle of Bute and found a picture of him on the
Duncan family site. When it was taken you could certainly have walked around it then.
