Welcome to the new forum. Even if you used the old forum system you will have to register again to use this new forum. Just click the register button near the top of the page to do that. I tried to find a way to transfer registration details but it wasn't possible. Sorry for the inconvenience. The old forum system had to go because it was very old and very prone to attacks from spam robots. We were getting spam robot registrations on an almost daily basis, were getting spam messages posted to the forum almost weekly and on a couple of occasions we had pornographic pictures posted in the forums. To stop this we have had to add a password to protect the old forum. We have kept the old forum so that you can refer to its contents but we ask you NOT to add new messages to the old forum. Please put any new messages in this forum. To use the old forum you will need to use a special ID and password to get to it. The Username is freeThe Password is accessThe old forum is here ==> http://butesonsanddaughters.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgiThe new forum is more up-to-date and has better security, but at the moment it's on trial until we are sure that it won't suffer the same or similar problems when attacked by the spambots. We'd also like to hear your opinions on the new forum too. |

Gday the Admin Group, Bit of a shock to find we have to start over again.Seems like years I have been making contributions and visiting BD&S.Not complaining mind you, just a shame that there are lame brains, and that is being very polite, spoiling such a wonderful Forum. The question I would like to ask is would you like members to renew their postings in the hope that it will help with other members family search? Cheers from sunny Moama and how are you Hillhouse and all the other beautiful people at Bute. |

I think it's a good idea to repost items that haven't brought forth the sort of response you've been looking for. Although the old forum is still there for reference purposes, this will be the active forum. We've been putting this step off for more than 2 years now, but there isn't going to be a solution for the spambot problem; all forums get attacked nowadays and the poor old thing was too old and feeble to fight them off. |

Dear Alan The reason we delayed so long in changing the forum is because there was so much information on the old one so in answer to your enquiry - yes, we would love it if you can be bothered to re-enter some of your old posts. Thank you! Alison |

After having my computer away for maintenance for several weeks, I come back to a totally new look BD&S. PANIC.... as it had been cleaned so thoroughly that I had lost some of my information collected over 6years. Short version of my story.... after a few false starts I have managed to find my way into the old files. Yes I like the new setup (now) Worth the hassle to keep spammers etc. at bay. regards Nana |

Dear Nana Welcome back......glad you like our new forum. I agree it would have been bad to lose the old one, as people like yourself have been posting there for years and there is lots of information stored in it. I confess that it's a great relief to have this new one up and running, as it was becoming a nightmare to monitor the old one. It's always difficult to know when and how to change something that is established, but everyone seems to be happy with the change! Alison |
